Know, How You Can Get Rid of all Those Back Aches and Pains When You Are Stuck Working from Home

Most household settings do not have sufficient space to accommodate the ergonomic office furniture items of today. Moreover, most people do not like investing in it, particularly when they are doing most of their work in their office. Therefore, when someone is working from Home, there are higher chances of them using their computers on a kitchen countertop or a regular table. It is very likely that one is not in a healthy posture when they are camped out for the day.

The pandemic may be over eventually, but remote working will stay the norm for thousands of workers since the organisations have figured out that some workers do not need in-office hours as before. However, the physical strain caused by this may lead to musculoskeletal injuries, like deep vein thrombosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, sore shoulders and neck, a bad back, etc. In this article, we will share some tips to avoid these pains.

1.Sit Back in the Chair

Avoid hunching forward or trying to sit upright in your Office Chair like a turtle. Lordosis is when the lower back of a person curves in toward the belly. While leaning forward the bending of the lumbar spine puts extra pressure on your intervertebral lumbar discs. Therefore, one should sit in such a way that the natural lordotic curve of the lumbar spine is supported. One should ensure that they are sitting back in their office chair so that some of their body weight is getting the support of the chair back. You can use a rolled-up towel or a cushion behind their lower back if the chair lacks good lower-back support.

2.Avoid Using a Squishy and Soft Wrist Rest

A soft and squishy wrist rest may seem like it is providing support, but when you put anything under your wrist, it adds strain on the flexor tendons of your fingers along with your median nerve. This enhances the likelihood of carpal tunnel syndrome.

3.View the Paper Documents with a Straight Neck

Avoid reading from papers or an iPad that is laid flat on Study Tables, otherwise, your head would persistently have to move up and down. If one has to go back and forth between a computer screen and laptop along with different reading material, one can put their iPad on a stand or on study tables or use a vertical document holder.

4.While Sitting, Rest Your Flat Feet either On Foot Support or the Floor

You can use a footrest, cushion, pile of books, a box if your feet do not reach the floor. One should not let their legs dangle in the air or pull their feet back under the chair, for it restricts the blood flow to the feet and lower legs by putting pressure under your thighs. This enhances the danger of deep vein thrombosis.

Finally, one should always limit the time they work on their bed.
